We adopted the new Graduation requirements mandated by the state for next years 9th graders. The question then was do we run two different sets of requirements or make the standards apply to all high school students next year. All core requirements are the same as they always have been. Most of the state is on a 21-23 unit schedule.
All students will continue to have to pass 4 maths, 4 sciences, 4 social studies and meet the EOCT and graduation test requirement.
The new requirements actually make it harder on our “tech prep” students because everyone has to meet the same standard now. For many students this does actually raise the bar and force them into classes with more rigor.
This will be much better because many of our “tech prep” students decide late in high school that they would like to go to college only to discover that they should have taken more intense classes to prepare themselves. This is intended to prepare all students for college or technical school.
