An Open Letter to Gov. Mike Huckabee….

                                                February 15, 2008

 Governor Huckabee,

I want to first tell you how inspired I have been to watch your campaign unfold.  I have been a donor, blogger and supporter since July of 2007. I have been very proud to be associated with you and the message of hope and conservatism that you have brought to this campaign.  I think that you have energized the party in a way that we have not seen in along time and you deserve a tremendous amount of credit for that.

Having said all of that I believe that it is time to seriously consider the value in continuing to move forward with your campaign. I am a veteran of the Marine Corps and I believe that the paramount issue that our country is facing right now in the war on Islamic extremism.  We have an opportunity right now to unite behind Senator McCain and make sure that the Democrats do not win this election and place the security of this nation at risk.

I am asking that you step aside and work hard to use the good will and energy that you have garnered throughout this election for the good of this country. My request of you does not come without a challenge as you determine what your next step should be.  Speaker Gingrich has and continues to warn that we must move for REAL CHANGE in this country if we have any chance of beating the Democrats in the fall.

I am asking you to take up this mantle and be the bridge between real change and Senator McCain. Gov. Huckabee you more than any other candidate have been out fighting for new ideas in the form of the Fair Tax in particular.  You have the unique opportunity to be the voice of change in a way that unites this party and gives us the opportunity to be truly successful in the fall elections.

I know that this is not the task that you believed  you were called to but I believe this role  may actually be more important than becoming the nominee itself.  The Republican Party has lost its grip and appeal with average Americans and you can be the man that helps this party to find its way back to Reagan conservatism.

Sometimes real servant leadership means having to deviate from the course we set for ourselves in order to serve the interests of the many. I applaud you for your leadership and ask you to end your campaign and begin your divine mission to repair and rebuild the compass of this once great party!

A friend and supporter,

  2. When (or if) Huckabee actually loses the nomination, I am sure he will bow out gracefully and concede. Isn’t it odd that nobody is asking Ron Paul to quit? If Huckabee is no threat to win why do they care?

Also, Ollie North just endorsed McCain. If the 148 soldiers of the 101st who were blown up in Gander had lived, no doubt any one of them would have made a better president than McCain. But, yes, I will vote for him if he is the nominee.

  3. Matt should have been “inspired” to do his research instead of listening to a lying panderer who wrapped himself in the cloak of religion. What does Article VI say of our Constitution?? Then, which mental midget thinks he’s smarter than our founding fathers?? ( Hint; it ain’t you. )

    Mike “The Huckster” Huckabee
    http://mikeyhuckabee.blogspot.com/

  4. Huckabee has inspired me as well. But I agree with Pat Buchanan. Huckabee should fight until he has absolutely lost and then bow out gracefully and get speaking time at the convention…

The conservative wing of the party needs a voice and he has risen to the occasion. And he can win Wisconsin, Ohio, and Texas and force McCain to accept a conservative plank.

  5. The most important role of the President under the Constitution is protecting this country. I think John McCain will do that and his stance on judges and a number of other issues important to conservative will be better than the democrats.

  6. I am not yet ready to start chanting Huck 012…

I am proud to have caucused for him in Minnesota… I would do it again today!

  7. I respect your opinion though, and I would vote McCain over a democrat.

  8. I voted for Gov. Huckabee in Georgia and was proud to do it but this is about more than one person. It is time that we start focusing on protecting this country and at this point that means getting behind John McCain.

  9. Wow, Winghunter is still around, with yet another URL. I guess getting banned and blocked all over the blogosphere isn’t getting as tiring as I would have thought.

As to Matt … you know, I understand where you’re coming from. I have sent Gov. Huckabee exactly the opposite message, but I understand. It’s all a matter of perspective. Your letter is polite and clearly well-thought-out.

  10. I appreciate the thought……I am calling Gov. Huckabee to a larger purpose and that is to be the VOICE of conservatism. He may not win this election but he can win the MOVEMENT.

  11. Are you SERIOUS? We need Huckabee (BTW I am a RON PAUL supporter) We need voices of KINDNESS, compassion, and intelligence, to counteract McCAIN who is SCAREY!!! I PRAY…and I mean PRAY that Huckabee does NOT drop out. He is a balance and a breath of fresh air in this very stale republican party

  12. You and I are on the same page…….It is just a matter of what platform Gov. Huckabee will use to energize the voters……He is not going to be the nominee. His choice now is to be the voice of the conservative cause and I can think of no one better to do that.

  13. Great article. I agree with your points entirely. Huckabee has run a great campaign and has some good wind for his sails in the next one.

  14. Your post was very thought provoking. I believe Mike Huckabee has already brought much change to the campaign. Many of the “front runners” changed their platforms after they were beaten in debates with Huckabee.

Although I respect your call for him to bow out, I also disagree completely. You have had your chance to vote. I have not. And if it were down to McCain and Obama or Hillary, I would write in Mike Huckabee’s name. I just cannot in good conscience vote for a double-minded candidate.

  15. I think the question is who will you vote for in November…….We cannot allow the Dems to win!

  16. Do you really think if Huckabee got out of the race it would help McCain? Those of us who are going to have to “hold our nose” and vote for him are not going to gather around him and go “rah, rah”.

I agree with Eva, Huckabee staying in is probably good for the party.

  17. Polly,

I think we are past all that……I am on to thinking about the general election. I know many in the GOP (including myself) have reservations about McCain but I have MAJOR ISSUES with the Dems and we have to get united to beat them in November. We cannot win if we have our people sitting out and not participating. We cannot afford to be that cynical or we will lose more than a candidate that we all wanted to win badly.

  18. I don’t believe McCain CAN win against either Democratic candidate. If he does become the nominee (and I still believe God may have a big surprise in store at a brokered convention), then perhaps God has willed for us to be under the leadership of the Dems. My quiet time led me to Jeremiah the other day…God placed his chosen people under Nebuchadnezzar for 70 years because of their refusal to repent. If you remember, the support for Bush came on the heels of morally corrupt Clinton. Who can say what God has planned for us as a nation? He is God. He sets up kings and takes them down. We need to remember that God sees the big picture.

In November, I will write in Mike Huckabee’s name if he is not on the ballot.

It may be that the Republican party leadership needs a defeat in order to see that change is necessary. I hope not! I pray not!

  19. That is what the Democrats said about Carter……They thought that they would get Carter out and regain the White House in 4 years…….It took 12 years for them to get it back. We cannot allow that to happen.

  20. When did we conservatives loose our backbone and convictions and become such pansies?

I TOTALLY but respectfully disagree with your letter.

This is not about party loyalty, this is about right and wrong!

I will not, now or ever, vote for McCain [or the other 2 senators]. His worldview is one in which Canada, Mexico and America become one country. I will not help him accomplish that. And yes I know that for a fact because I fought him on a bill to redraw the boundary lines of America to INCLUDE Canada and Mexico. BTW, that bill passed!

There is more at stake here than politics. The outcome of American, our values, our sovereignty, the core of who and what America is are in jeopardy.

Additionally, the last time I checked, this was an election “for the people by the people” and we are only half way through the process. The American people have not yet decided who they want.

The media has tried to bamboozle us while the GOP has tried to force “this” candidate down our throat. If that is the America you want to be part of, more power to you, but as for me, I want to play by the rules that are currently in place.

I realize there isn’t the perfect candidate, but what about choosing the best candidate. McCain may have more experience on war but he has none on economics and finances. Furthermore, he is for the destruction of embryonic stem cells from leftover vitro fertilization and embryo destruction.

He does not support an amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

He would oppose legislative initiatives that emphasis border security over all other forms of immigration reform.

And most important he has authored bill after bill that has or will have devastating consequences on America.

So according to your analysis of the current situation, I am suppose to toss that to the side, even when there is a much more viable candidate, and back the “party.”

I would rather see this go to convention, let Mike speak, and then let the chips fall where they may!

  21. There is more at stake here than politics. The outcome of American, our values, our sovereignty, the core of who and what America is are in jeopardy.
    ————————————————————————–
I completely agree……Now think about Clinton or Obama winning! With all due respect the people have spoken…..Look at the delegate count.

  22. Well, Matt, it looks like you’ve attracted some attention …

If I agreed with your point that the national campaign has to start now, I might back you up more completely. As it is, the Democrats haven’t even started theirs.

Beyond that … I don’t think that McCain stands a chance against Obama. There’s a definite charisma gap.

However, you have a definite point — ultimately, I’m going to have to vote for Sen. McCain if he winds up as the nominee. If nothing else … Sen. McCain opposes abortion, Sen. Obama doesn’t even oppose killing babies that survive abortion attempts.

Call it a reality check or whatever else you like, but the truth is that we don’t want Obama or Clinton elected. You’re right about that, Matt. I think you’re getting a lot more flak here than you deserve.

  23. I expected to get some flack because Gov. Huckabee is a good man and a good candidate. The fact is it is just not going to happen. I agree with you about Obama giving us more trouble than Clinton. I think this makes Gov. Huckabee an even more attractive candidate for VP or maybe Duncan Hunter. My point in talking about all of this now is that we cannot afford for conservatives to stay home during this election. The Dems have had more people voting on their side and seem to have the energy. We can regain the Big ‘Mo but we have to get all of the GOP factions pulling together. This is going to take to compromise and healing on all sides and this needs to happen sooner rather than later.

  24. You’re making the assumption that there is a difference between McCain and the democrats. There isn’t in all the ways that count.

  25. Matt,
I too am one who disagrees with you about Huckabee stepping aside as a candidate. The battle should continue.
However, I am hearing in the voices of many Christians, that the democrats are evil, and our only hope is the republican party. We need to desparately rethink that position. Our Creator is completely in charge, and we will have a president according to His mercy, or we will have one according to judgment, and I am not sure party can distinguish the difference.
Only our God, the Lord Jesus Christ knows the answer to that. Let’s trust Him alone, yet, go and vote when the polls are open.
Good letter, but I do disagree. The battle ain’t over yet.
    T.A.

  26. HELLO…………………THE DEMOCRATS ARE WINNING!!! McCain does not have the leadership skills to stop that tsunami. Look at the numbers of energized democratic voters!Too bad the republican elite picked the uninspiring Romney/McCain. Ho hum. Remember the CA debate? UGH! McCain will be eaten alive in debates with the dem nominee.
I am first a Christian, then an American, then I vote for whomever will stand unabashedly for the life of every individual in this nation republican or democrat (haven’t been many of those lately). Because of his stand on embryonic stem cells I won’t vote for McCain. I don’t care about 5 day waiting periods for gun sales. Or how thick my wallet will be if I can afford to retire. I can compromise on motorcycle helmets and smoke free zones but NOT on the value of each individual’s life! My goodness in their wisdom Congress is now holding hearings on steroids in sports…aren’t there a few more urgent issues?
I can not vote for McCain although I admire his military service from YEARS AGO. I won’t mention his senate record…sadly, it speaks for itself. Is he really the best the GOP has to offer? Over and over he has shown he doesn’t represent my core values…Don’t ask me to pick him as the lesser evil. WE WILL LOSE BECAUSE THE GOP PUT THEIR POWER BEHIND THE WRONG CANDIDATE!.
I have the right to vote MY convictions. I WON’T be staying home. I plan on writing in Huckabee if he’s not the nominee. My vote will not matter with the huge mass of dem voters. But I will vote knowing I supported the BEST candidate not the one that was shoved down my throat. I CAN sleep at night knowing that…
McCain will lose it’s that simple.

  27. “This is going to take to compromise and healing on all sides and this needs to happen sooner rather than later.”

Where do you propose “we draw the line.” I propose that I have 4 viable candidates still in this race and despite your claim that Mike can’t win, [even at the convention?] I disagree.

Every time we compromise our convictions, the more desensitized we become and pretty soon we will be just like the Obamas, Clintons and McCains of the world.

  28. Dominique,

He will appoint better judges, He will be more fiscally sound, He will protect this country, He is against abortion (although he is weak on stem cell research)……..That is enough to make him a CLEAR choice for the GOP in the November election.

    Tim,

According to this process it is over……..I will have no problem admitting I am wrong if there is a divine intervention that takes place!

  29. K. Carr & Dominique,

McCain has an over 80% rating from the American Conservative Union……..That kind of thinking will only ensure that the Democrat wins……..What will this country look like when socialism takes root under the watch of Obama or Clinton?

What about the Reagan rule that 80% my friend is more important than 20% my enemy?

We are going to ideolog ourselves into a fiscal, social, and secutity disaster if we are not careful!

This is what we all need to get behind:

    http://newt.org/tabid/102/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3173/Default.aspx

  30. By having Huckabee step out then you might as well just coronate Obama!!! McCain CANNOT win against Obama & I don’t see the TRUE conservative base uniting on this one….

The numbers in the election will show how ticked off the TRUE conservatives are……………

I refuse to be bullied into voting for a man that does not represent this party at all. Say what you will. The man does not represent our party…why do we keep saying Reagan Conservative? He is NOT! And by sacrificing the nominee to win Reagan democrats & moderates…they bit their nose to spite their face… they lost the TRUE conservative base!

Obama will sweep those southern states PLUS the democratic states.

The republican party’s ONLY saving grace is Huck!

  31. Matt,
If we must, we’ll all eventually rally behind McCain, but only if we must. But, I don’t see much point in it. Obama will steam roller over McCain. It will be a bigger land-slide victory than Regan had. All McCain can win in primaries are the blue states which he’ll never win in a general election. Huckabee, as a southern gov. takes the red states which will be the GOP’s only hope in 2008. We can muster and support McCain all we want and it’ll never work. He and his VP will be used good’s after 2008! I say push on to the end, stand for what is right, but no compromise. I don’t care, nor endorse your “open letter to Mike”.
    Thanks you.

  32. McCain Has over 900 delegates and Romney has asked his 280 some delegates to move to McCain……..Its over.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html

  34. I think, even if logically Mike can’t win, it’s still good for him to stay in the race because it forces the media to keep talking about the Republicans, and not focus on the identity politic soap opera that is the Democratic race.

  35. A write-in vote for Huckabee in November is equal to a vote for Obama or Clinton. Someone mentioned the Republicans biting off their nose to spite their face. May we conservatives not be guilty of repeating that act.

  36. I think you are missing a vital point here. This is American and in America EVER American gets to vote and NO winner is announced until one reaches 1191.

Anything other than that is tyranny.

  37. I am not discounting the right to vote…..People can vote for Ron Paul if they want to…..I am talking about the future of this country not the future of this primary!

  38. I just had another thought. Let’s look at it this way. Let’s say we do what you suggest and coalesce around McCain. Let’s say Obama wins.

You can’t possibly think that McCain will beat Obama?

Obama hasn’t even peaked in popularity and his oratory skills are amazing!

You put him up against McCain and you will be giving the GOP to the democrats because Obama will win hands down.

McCain has a serious restraint problem when it comes to his anger, temper and foul mouth and I guarantee you that Obama will exploit that.

A better course of action is to take a candidate who is on the same level as Obama in oratory skills and debate skills and even the playing field. Then, not only will we have a great debate, we will win!

  39. “I am not discounting the right to vote…..People can vote for Ron Paul if they want to…..I am talking about the future of this country not the future of this primary!”

That is exactly the problem. Some get to vote and some can vote for Ron Paul….hmmm. Yeah…that’s the American way. That’s democracy.. uh huh.

  40. Actually we live in a Constitutional Republic……..Romney is still on the ballot in many states (people can vote for him if they want to)……The question is what is to be gained at this point…….According to the latest polls McCain actually performs better vs. both Obama and Clinton than Gov. Huckabee.

MY POINT AGAIN IN ALL OF THIS IS THAT THE EXTREME RIGHT WING OF THIS PARTY IS DOING HARM TO THIS COUNTRY BY BLASTING MCCAIN SO HARSHLY……THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PRIMARY ANYMORE! GOV. HUCKABEE CAN STAY IN OUR GET OUT BUT I WANT TO WIN IN NOVEMBER…….THIS THING DOES NOT END AT 1191…..THAT IS JUST THE BEGINNING!

  41. Look, people! Let’s not get too caught up in fighting amongst ourselves. What is the point of attacking Matt?

Matt expressed an opinion about how best to win in November.

Not just for the party, but because we want to see the right kind of justices nominated.

The claim that there is no difference between Sen. McCain and the Democrats is insane. On the single most important issue to me, ultimately, McCain is pro-life. Maybe he’s no Mike Huckabee, but he’s no Hillary Clinton, either.

Given the choice between a mediocre pro-lifer and a pro-abort, there’s only one way to go.

  42. Actually, I disagree, respectfully, with you wickle. I have been fighting McCain for several years on bills that he has been passing that are not being brought to light such as a bill he passed in 2005 where he recommended that the boundary lines for America be “redrawn” to include Canada and Mexico!”

McCain is not a friend to the GOP or conservatives and I am not part of the “extreme right”, I am actually an independent.

My point is that McCain as will Hillary and Obama, will do severe damage to the sovereignty of America. His worldview is not one shared by many Americans and that is why I refuse to vote for him.

The fact that the GOP has backed him only adds to my concern because there is a concerted effort to push America forward into the “North American Union.” What is shocking for me is that perhaps it is coming more from our GOP party than the democratic party. (I did say perhaps - maybe in concert with would be a better way to phrase it)

And Matt, I apologize if I came across as attacking you. That was not my heart. I just refuse to support a candidate that I know is not good for this country, excuse me, the three candidates when Mike Huckabee is still a viable candidate.

Abraham Lincoln went to convention and won and that turned out great!

    http://www.greatamericanhistory.net/nomination.htm

Anyhoo, I will agree to disagree with you. Again, my apologies if I came on a little strong….

  43. We are not done till McCain gets 1191! Why should Mike Huckabee step aside? Why not as McCain to step down and let the real conservative continue. Mike Huckabee is the only candidate here that has a good chance of beating either Obama or Clinton in November. McCain has neither the passion or the credentials to inspire the Republican voting base to get out and work and support him, much less vote for Him.
Come November … Yes, I will be voting. It will be Mike Huckabee, either by an “X” by his name or his name on the line!
I will not vote for John McCain.

  44. The greatest danger that we face at this time is not jihadism; it is ourselves. We are facing a moral implosion as a nation. By being content to drift farther from our foundations we will eventually find it impossible to return to them. Mike Huckabee is the only candidate that seems to understand and communicate this. I am so deeply grateful to him and his family that they have chosen to stay in this race despite their tremendous personal sacrifices.

  45. In response to rallying around McCain, I cannot do it at anytime. Of course, I see that the other 2 are worse, but the point is that they are all headed in the same direction. They would give our sovereignty to the UN. They exalt choice devoid of responsibility. There comes a time when one must be willing to “stand” come what may. Perhaps if we all had seen this years ago we would not be having this discussion now. Too many times I have been contented with the least bad choice rather than the right one, voting against what I didn’t want instead of voting for principle. So now, “here I stand, I can do no other.”

  46. Why there is so much noise: “drop Huckabee, drup!”
I think we have plenty of time, about six month, to allow people to vote in primary, and show excellent example how true democracy works. I believe convection would be the best place to unite party behind best candidate. Hold your horses, there is no emergency to rush.

  47. Matt, you’ve obviously missed the point. Mike Huckabee does not owe the Republican party anything. He’s found a cause far greater than the party, it’s the people of this country. Not just the CEOs and bankers but the cab drivers and janitors too.

Huckabee’s allegiance has been to the people of this country and not the party. Were it the party I seriously doubt that you or I would have ever backed him as fervently as we have. He owes nothing to the party either. He’s been dumped on by the chattering classes, conservative and libertarian think tanks and has had to take the humiliation of influential Republican politicians supporting McCain.

Yeah, I suppose that Governor Huckabee can throw in the towel and endorse John McCain. Then let’s say that Senator McCain could defeat the Dems in the GE, I’m sure that our nation and trembling economy could survive four more years of illegals sashaying over the border into our country. What’s another 6 to 8 million wards of the state anyway.

Personally, I’m not much of a mathematician either but I do believe in miracles and if Huckabee can force a brokered convention then I’m sure a lot of other people will believe in miracles too.

  48. Dude….take a fiew minutes and look up McCain’s political past…or even his private past. Look up The Keating V, adultery, or Cindy McCain’s drug addiction problems…and then look up what Veterans and other POWS have to say about their buddy, McCain. I really had no idea until today, but the info is out there….and believe me…the other side is gonna let EVERYONE know of it. My husband and I will write Mike Huckabee in if we must, but for future generations, we cannot and will not cast a vote in this free country of ours for someone who endorses gay marriage or abortion. After America lets the rope out…..it will never be pulled back in….legalize gay marriage and kill all the babies…. seriously…a taste of that uh…”freedom”…and people will never go back. No sir…we can’t do it. We feel our great-great grandkids are counting on us to do the right thing.

  49. S.V,,

I am a former Marine (no x-Marines!) and I trust McCain a whole lot more to protect this country than i do Clinton and Obama. He understands what it means to sacrifice and wear a uniform for this nation.

Writing in Huckabee’s name in November is the same as voting for failure on Judges, The war, Fiscal security and a host of other issues that Christians and Conservatives care about.

    It would be political suicide!

We are not going to fix the moral decline in this nation with ANY president…….There is only on person who can do that and Jesus is not on the ballot.

  50. Mat t-

You are wrong on the judges. Mike has said he will only put in judges who interpret the law not interpret it with their own bias. Also, Mike is fiscally sound. He left Arkansas 85 million richer!

And with one tax that he had to put in because of a federal mandate he had to meet that wasn’t in the budget, he repealed that tax three years later when there no longer was a need for it.

If you put Mike’s record up against McCain, the only area that McCain is stronger is in reference to the war. However, that may not necessarily be a bad thing. A 100 years is a long time after all.

Also, on illegals, (someone else mentioned it here) this has to be dealt with right away and Mike is the only candidate to sign a pledge saying he will put a wall on the border within 18 months.

As far as McCain goes, I have no idea where he is on the health crisis in America, he has said he “can’t wrap his brain around economic figures”, has a eruptive temper and a foul mouth. Why would any of us want to choose him over Mike?

Also, I reiterate what another one of your posters said, just because the GOP is coalescing around McCain does not mean it is over. Many of those so called delegates are not bound which means at convention they can go to anyone.

Well, you definitely got a great discussion going on here.

BTW, you might want to read Phil Cooke’s blog today on what Mike has done right in his campaign - things other candidates can learn from him on.

    http://www.philcooke.com/Huckabee_Still_Running

  51. Dominique,

I agree with all of your points on Mike…..That is why I voted for him. The comparison I was making was between McCain and the Democrats. Mike is not going to be the nominee……..It is time you start to come to terms with that…..There is no more need to give me comparisons between Mike and McCain. That part is over.

  52. AN OPEN LETTER TO JOHN MCCAIN:

    Dear John,
Any GOP candidate who wants to “consolidate” the party, and who refuses to use a nationally televised debate v. other GOP’ers to do so, is either:
    1. too weak and/or too lame
    2. giving lip service to the idea of “consolidating” the Party, and is so foolish that he actually believes he can win the National Elec. w/o consolidating it
    3. is lying when he says he will out-campaign, out-debate and out-perform the Dem’s - if you can’t do it in your own camp, you can’t do it against the opposition.

“Good luck” with your continued attempts to pressure the thinking American public & smart Republicans into backing you without you doing the actual work. BTW, I’m not an evangelical, I’m more of a New Age spiritualist who disagrees w/Huckabee on his family values platform, so you’ve gotta ask yourself, “Why isn’t she voting for me?”

Maybe you should give me the decency and respect of telling me why I should vote for you - in a debate v. your only true opponent - Huckabee - without the Romney static. In my eyes, along with all of my friends - who
were former Rudy & Mitt supporters & who STILL don’t like you & yet believe Mike won’t make it - you never won any of the debates.

John, if you fail in a Feb 08 GOP Debate, you sure as heck are going to fail in the Fall. So, you might as well debate now and reach a conclusion of:
    1. You’ve got to improve your debating skills
    OR
    2. You’ve got to withdraw because you’ll cause the Party to fail in Nov.

Think of it this way: If Huckabee should drop out now because he won’t win in upcoming primaries, or he won’t win in a Contested RNC, then logically, you should drop out now because you won’t win in November - against either Dem candidate. Hillary will out-debate you on substance, and Obama will out-debate you as a communicator and inspirational speaker.

With regard to your debate style & discussion of substance beyond the bullet points & national security - the line of “just ask my friend _____,
he’ll tell you how tough I am on ____, ” - As Dr. Phil says, “How’s that workin’ for ya?”

Not too well for you, John, not too well for either you or the Party.

[And, woe to the "king" who is deluded by the "yes-men" with whom he surrounds himself.]

    ————————–

BTW, in case you think John McCain would, in part, retort with the idea that he’s not asking Huckabee to withdraw, here’s a quote from an actual memo sent to his supporters on Feb. 12, 2008, from Rick Davis, his campaign manager, which, of course, is a blatant lie:

“With only 774 delegates left on the table after tonight, Governor Huckabee cannot win the Republican nomination for president.”

A very loud, public retraction, complete with a copy to all of his supporters, is in order.

  53. everyone needs to vote for the candidate they want. Simple as that…dont vote for someeone because you think it might help another.Vote your heart and mind, with your children and grandchildren’s futures in mind.

Thats why I amstill voting for Ron Paul no matter what.

A ticket of Ron Paul and Huckabee would = a kinder, gentler, more STABLE nation.
